Raymond ‘Ray’ S. Huchek, 70 of Temperance, MI, died Monday, October 21, 2013 in Franciscan Care Center, Toledo, OH. Born December 2, 1942 in East Chicago, IN, he was the son of John E. and Helen (Bermick) Huchek. Ray was the owner and operator of the former Your Home Plate Restaurant in Trilby, and of the former Sports Beat Newspaper in Toledo, OH. Prior, Ray was also a reporter for the Daily Telegram in Adrian, Michigan for several years. He was an avid Notre Dame Fan, who loved his pets and animals of all sorts. Ray was also a man of faith, lending a hand to those in need of a ride to an appointment, someone in financial need or just someone to talk to.
He is survived by his cousins, Stephen (Linda) Bermick, Michael Bermick, Kathy (Marty) Knowlton and Douglas Bermick. Former wife, Judy Huchek. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Deacon Stephen Bermick, officiating.
Interment services will follow at 1:30 pm at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, 1291 Wolf Creek Highway, Adrian, MI. Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Care Center, 4111 Holland Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623.
